Speaker of the House Mike Johnson was in the Hudson Valley Sunday night for a campaign fundraiser in support of Rep. Mike Lawler.
The event happened at the Bronxville home of Tony Sayegh, who served as a White House advisor under former President Donald Trump.
Lawler, a Republican, represents all of Rockland, Putnam, northern Westchester County and part of Dutchess County. News 12 spoke with Lawler earlier in the day about the event.
"It's always great to have the speaker come and campaign alongside you and help raise funds," he said.
Former Rep. Mondaire Jones previously held Lawler’s seat and has announced that he will challenge him next election. He has been critical of the speakers’ views on abortion and gay rights.
