Perhaps inspired by California Chrome's bid for racing's Triple Crown, a horse sprinted down I-684 yesterday.
Passengers in a car driving northbound captured cellphone video of the horse running down the middle of the highway near Katonah. The horse was spooked, and then jumped a guard rail and ran in front of ongoing traffic in the southbound lanes.
The horse was eventually captured and was not injured. There were no car accidents during the horse's run.
According to state troopers, the horse wandered away from the John Jay Homestead in Bedford. The homestead was where the Bedford Riding Lanes Association was holding its Country Pace and picnic.
It is not clear how the horse got loose.
