A Dutchess County woman on Saturday rescued a cat that was stuck in a tree for 12 hours.
Athena Odell is a tree professional by trade but answered the call to duty as an animal lover.
Odell climbed and hoisted herself up 40 feet in order to save the frightened cat. The animal was lowered to safety in a basket.
“She’s a feral cat. Probably about five weeks. They decided to name her Athena,” says Odell. “When she’s ready in a couple of weeks, she’ll be up for adoption.”
News 12 is told the kitten is being cared for by Stray Help in Fishkill.
