Hit-and-run suspect leads police on chase through Putnam County into Orange County

Authorities say the trooper confirmed the car had been stolen out of Brewster, but efforts to stop it were unsuccessful.

A Sullivan County man is accused of leading state police on a chase that began in Putnam County and ended in Orange County.
Police say around 5 p.m. yesterday, a trooper saw a car involved in a hit-and-run crash on I-84.
Authorities say the trooper confirmed the car had been stolen out of Brewster, but efforts to stop it were unsuccessful.
The chase ended in Newburgh. After a brief foot chase, the suspect was arrested. 
Holden Gioia, 40, faces charges including possession of stolen property and unlawful fleeing of an officer.
