A hit-and-run in the City of Poughkeepsie was captured on surveillance video shared with News 12, appearing to show a woman being struck by a vehicle and the driver leaving the scene.

The video, sent by a neighbor on Taylor Avenue, is timestamped to show the incident happening around 10:15 p.m. on April 28.

The woman is seen crossing the residential street when she's struck by the car and sent airborne in an audible impact. The victim is initially heard moaning on the ground and then calling out for help as the driver checks on her, but then goes back into his car.

He is seen on the recording backing up his vehicle and leaving in the direction he came.

The neighbor says they and others nearby heard her calls for help, ran outside and called police.

City of Poughkeepsie police confirmed a recent hit-and-run in the area but have not released additional details, including the condition of the victim or whether a driver has been identified.
