After 150 years in business, St. John's Riverside Hospital in Yonkers is looking for a partner to stay afloat into the future.
The historic hospital, one of two independent hospitals left in the county, has put out a call to look for partners or mergers to help share the increasing cost of providing health care.
Hospital officials say changes in health care reform over the last year and changes in the health care landscape are mandating they think outside the box.
The hospital has about 2,000 employees. There are no immediate plans to make any changes to staffing levels.
Officials say a partnership could take up to two years, and maybe up to five years to fully integrate systems.
