A historic beachfront facility is reopening just ahead of Memorial Day weekend as summer-like weather moves into the Hudson Valley.

The bath houses at Oakland Beach in Rye are now open following renovations, offering visitors a refreshed space as beach season picks up.

Officials say the timing aligns with strong weather conditions and increased traffic expected over the holiday weekend.

“The renovation of this building and the towers in the administration is long overdue,” said Rye Town Supervisor Gary Zuckerman.

Zuckerman described the project as detailed and layered. “Like making a many-layered cake. It's going to be delicious,” he said.

Beachgoers heading out should be aware of an air quality advisory in effect from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Health officials say people with cardiovascular or respiratory disease, such as asthma, should limit strenuous outdoor activity during the afternoon and early evening hours.
