Two men in law enforcement have achieved historic firsts for the Hispanic community.
Melvin Padilla Jr. is the first Hispanic man in Westchester to become the Bedford chief of police. Rockland County-raised Michael Greco is the first Hispanic U.S. Marshal to head the New York Southern District.
The two men were honored at the Westchester Hispanic Law Enforcement Association's 19th annual scholarship gala in New Rochelle. Its VIP guest list included lawmakers and high-ranking leaders in law enforcement.
Both men say they hope that by rising in the ranks of public service, they will be able to shine a light on aspiring Hispanics and other minorities.
