Blinding sheets of rain, slick roadways and flash flooding created a virtual obstacle course for drivers across the Hudson Valley Sunday afternoon into the evening.
A mini lake created by the storm temporarily shut down Route 303 at Mountainview Road in Orangeburg.
Traffic on the northbound lanes of the Saw Mill River Parkway was halted for hours at exit 21E in Elmsford after flash flooding overtook the roadway. The temporary closure backed up traffic for miles.
Residents were advised to use caution and drive slowly.
