The Hearts Around the Globe symposium in New Rochelle is raising awareness about heart health in brown and Black communities.
The event, sponsored by nonprofit organization Greater Hudson Valley Chapter of the Links, Incorporated, taught lifesaving information at Iona University's Christopher J. Murphy auditorium.
Doctors say heart disease is the leading cause of death in Black and brown communities, which makes the event a valuable resource for the community.
“It’s very important to have programs like this to educate and share information in the community. Today we're going to do just that,” said cardiologist Dr. Icilma Fergus.
