The new AirPods may be practical and look cool, but health experts warn they could lead to ear infections.
Dr. Sarah Seaforth of PM Pediatrics says earbuds completely block the ear canal, which can become a breeding ground for debris.
"Allowing for no air to come back and forth through the area, and both wax and both moisture could be built up inside the canal," Seaforth says. She adds that earbuds should also be cleaned with an alcohol-infused wipe every day.
For users who experience pain pressing down upon the ear or see puss coming out the ear, Seaforth advises them to remove the AirPods and get their ears checked out.
