Here are some stories making headlines in the Hudson Valley.
A woman is in the hospital this morning after jumping from the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge. State police say she stopped her car in the span and jumped yesterday morning. A marine unit from Piermont found her about 20 minutes later, pulling her from the water. They say she was severely injured but conscious when they arrived.
A former Cold Spring village official and teacher has pleaded guilty to attempting to receive child pornography. According to court documents, Charles Hustis, 37, admitted he tried to receive those images from a minor over the internet and was originally arrested last December. Hustis served as a village trustee and was defeated in a run for mayor in 2019. He faces 5 to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced next February.
Ossining police are still investigating a robbery that led to the death of a Cortlandt Manor man. Police say two men met on James Street for a property transaction late Sunday afternoon. That's when a 23-year-old allegedly showed a handgun and attempted to rob the driver. The driver then sped off and the 23-year-old jumped from the moving car. He was later taken to a hospital where he died. Police say no charges have been filed but the investigation is ongoing.
