Here are some of the stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
A Delaware teen has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a man in Yonkers. Police say that back in October, the teen approached a man outside the Triangle Deli on Ashburton Avenue, pulled out a gun, and fired into his chest. The victim, 27-year-old Javon Merrill, was rushed to the hospital where he died. Authorities believe the incident was gang related.
A family from Putnam County has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty. Tara Wutcher, 57, Dennis Wutcher, 61, and Kyle Wutcher, 24, have been charged for allegedly failing to provide a clean and healthy living environment for numerous animals at a home on Joes Hill Road in the town of Southeast. All three pets are now being held at a local vet until foster care can be found.
A Warwick DPW worker is accused of taking village equipment home. He allegedly used it to mow his own lawn miles away in the Town of Wallkill. Warwick Mayor Michael Newhard says the same woman who gave News 12 cellphone video of the lawnmowing notified his office. He says the employee is facing disciplinary action. Newhard also said the incident has also prompted new oversight and policy changes so that it doesn't happen again.
