A teenage girl is safe after she was trapped in a drainpipe in Mamaroneck. Police say a 13-year-old girl fell into a hole feet first on Old White Plains Road and Center Avenue Saturday night. They say she got stuck up to her armpits and struggled to keep her head above ground. It took the Mamaroneck Fire Department more than an hour to get her out. The hole had been left open as part of damage from the storm. They say the girl has minor injuries but should be OK. The hole has since been boarded up and sectioned off.
Dutchess County Marine Patrol responding to reports of people in the Hudson River off the city of Poughkeepsie shoreline Sunday. Upon investigation, it was revealed that a motorboat was anchored in the Hudson River with a raft tethered to the stern. A 10-year-old girl fell of the raft and began to drift south in the river's current. A 14-year-old boy, who was also on the raft, jumped in the water to save her. Then, a 40-year-old man jumped off the boat to help the two kids. All three ended up drifting south in the current -- further away from the boat. The Marine Unit was able to return them safely back to their boat.
