Town Supervisor Teresa Kenny reported that insulation caught fire during construction at Orangetown Town Hall when contractors were cutting a steel beam with a torch. Firefighters opened walls in the stairway and courtroom to prevent the fire from spreading. No injuries were reported.
The Westchester District Attorney's Office announced the indictment of three men for a home burglary in Ossining. Last September, the men allegedly entered the home of a local business owner and stole designer handbags. One suspect reportedly targeted the victim's home based on stereotypes about the owner's wealth, who is Asian. This suspect also faces charges of burglary as a hate crime.
Authorities are still investigating a shooting outside an apartment complex in Spring Valley. At least two bullets struck a building at the Surry Carlton Apartment Complex on Tuesday night. A man at a nearby laundromat was shot in the arm and sustained serious injuries. Arrests have yet to be made in connection with the incident.
