Police say a man was shot multiple times in the chest and legs in Poughkeepsie Sunday afternoon. They say gunfire erupted around 2 p.m. near Smith Street and investigators found nearly two dozen shell cases. The victim was rushed to the hospital in a police car rather than wait for an ambulance. Police say they believe the victim was target, but is expected to survive. There is no word yet on any suspects
Flames broke out Sunday morning at a Yorktown Heights church. Officials say it started outside of the Yorktown Assembly of God and spread through the attic and above the building's sanctuary before firefighters were able to knock it down. The cause of the fire has not been released yet.
A quick response by hazmat experts contained a chlorine leak in a Shrub Oak Park. Officials say a crack in a storage tank allowed 1,400 gallons of liquid chlorine to leak out at the Brian J. Salvin Aquatic Center. The cleanup took eight hours but prevented potentially serious environmental issues. The swimming pool at the center is set to open next Saturday, June 5, as planned.
