A Pine Bush man will spend years behind bars after pleading guilty to aggravated vehicular assault for a car crash that paralyzed a teenager. Chauncey Smith was sentenced to 3 to 9 years in prison after his vehicle crossed the double-yellow line on Route 9W in August 2023, colliding head-on with a car traveling eastbound. The crash left a 15-year-old passenger in the other car paralyzed and another person seriously injured.
A Poughkeepsie man is facing felony burglary charges after allegedly committing two burglaries within hours of each other Sunday morning. Police responded to the first incident at a store on Washington Street, followed by another at a store on Market Street. Eric Mangano was identified as the suspect and arrested.
A Liberty man is in custody this morning after allegedly attacking a man with a metal pipe. Police responded to a man who arrived at their office with severe swelling and cuts to the back of his head. The man told officers he had been attacked with what he believed was a metal pipe. Anthony Jackson was arrested and faces assault and weapons charges.
