A
high-speed police chase lead to a crash in Orange County on Sunday.
State police say they tried to pull over an SUV driven by Chandler Riggin, 21,
of Middletown, on I-84 for speeding. A 100 mph pursuit continued
just past Exit 119 in the Town of
Wallkill where the SUV struck another vehicle, flew into the air, landed upside
down on the side of the road and burst into flames. No one was injured. Riggin, and the passenger,
Brittany Tobin, 22, of Greenville, were taken into custody and charged with
numerous crimes. Riggin was also issued 45 vehicle and traffic law tickets
to include speeding, driving on the shoulder, failure to comply and other violations.
Police
say Samuel Orozco, 28, of Mount Vernon, was killed in a crash on the Bronx River Parkway on
Sunday. They say crash
happened on the exit ramp at Bronx River Road and Wakefield Avenue in Yonkers.
The passenger in the car was
taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A fire damaged a home in Fishkill early Sunday morning. Fire officials say the flames broke out on the second floor of a home on Virginia Avenue. Everyone inside was able to get out safely.
