A resident of Yorktown lost their life after being struck by a car Wednesday morning at the intersection of Old Yorktown Road and Strang Boulevard. The driver, a 66-year-old from Yorktown, was heading southbound on Old Yorktown Road when the victim was struck. No charges have been filed against the driver at this time. The identity of the victim is pending confirmation.
Mount Vernon police are investigating a shooting that damaged two vehicles on East Third Street near South Second Avenue. Multiple nine-millimeter shell casings were found at the scene, along with two damaged cars. No arrests have been made. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) reveals that over the summer, more than 300 individuals across the state were cited for attempting to use fake IDs to buy alcohol. A total of 389 counterfeit licenses were confiscated, a decrease from the 550 citations issued last year. The agency emphasizes its collaboration with summer concert venues in order to detect and prevent the use of fake IDs.
