Headlines: Dog dies in house fire, attempted murder charges filed, Ramapo police chief retires

Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
A dog died in a Peekskill house fire Sunday morning. Fire officials say the blaze began in the basement at a home on Westchester Avenue and then spread to the first floor just after midnight.
Police say three young men are facing attempted murder charges and a fourth is expected be charged later today after shots were fired into a moving vehicle in New Rochelle back in April. A fifth man is also charged with criminal possession of a weapon. Police recovered a handgun they believe it was used during the incident.
And it’s the end of an era at the Town of Ramapo Police Department as Chief Brad Weidel retired on Friday. Weidel served the town for more than 40 years. Members of the Town of Ramapo Police Department, as well as colleagues from other stations, were there for his final walkout. Capt. Marty Reilly will be taking over the position.
