Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
A driver is dead after hitting a telephone pole on State Route 6 in Greenville Friday night. Upon arrival, troopers found a Volkswagen Jetta in a field off the roadway with serious damage to the driver's side portion of the vehicle. After an investigation, it appears that the driver failed to negotiate a curve and struck a telephone pole.
A 29-year-old man was fatally shot on Broadway in Monticello shortly after 2 a.m. on Saturday. Village police discovered the man on the sidewalk in front of Nelly's Sports Bar. He had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released the victim's identity pending notification of family members.
A car went up in flames on Route 9A in Briarcliff Manor early Saturday morning. Briarcliff police say it happened near the intersection with Pleasantville Road just after 1 a.m. They say no injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.
