A Croton man, Eric Kyu, has been arrested and charged with federal child pornography offenses. According to an FBI agent's complaint, Kyu was taken into custody after a search of his Observatory Drive home uncovered approximately 12 sexually explicit printed pictures of children, downloaded from the internet. Kyu appeared in federal court in White Plains, where bond was set at $150,000.
Elmer Oviedo-Sandoval, a Haverstraw man, has been convicted of sexually abusing a child. Rockland prosecutors allege that Oviedo-Sandoval engaged in sexual contact with the victim, who was 9-years-old at the time, between 2016 and 2019. He faces up to seven years in prison when sentenced in October.
A house fire in New Rochelle is under investigation after crews responded to heavy smoke and flames on Pinebrook Avenue yesterday. The Fire Chief reports no word yet on any injuries. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
