A Yonkers woman's attempt to overturn her conviction and sentence has been dismissed by a federal judge. Virginia Blanco, who represented herself, had been sentenced to 10 years in prison for her involvement in a 2013 bank robbery at a Wells Fargo branch in Yonkers. Blanco alleged that her trial lawyer provided inadequate counsel and that government witnesses had provided false testimony. However, the federal judge ruled that Blanco's claims did not warrant a hearing, leaving her conviction and sentence unchanged.
A Walden man is facing charges for the alleged sexual assault of a 13-year-old. State police charged Josh Horner with sex abuse and endangering the welfare of a child. He's due back in court on Friday.
