Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
Authorities say a second person has been arrested in connection to a chop shop discovered at a Fairfield business. Virelsa Guzman, of Yonkers, is accused of running the illegal business and stealing a car. The stolen and dissembled vehicles were discovered last month at Veracity Stone Fabricators on Daniel Road East. Police already announced the arrest of Edison Cuevas, also from Yonkers. Both suspects are being held at the Essex County Jail pending court appearances.
A Liberty man is behind bars for threatening someone with a gun. Village of Liberty police say it happened Friday in the area of Spring Street. Police say after making the threat, the man drove away. Police later found and arrested Andrew Jackson. He was arraigned and is being held in Sullivan County Jail without bail.
A Port Jervis man will spend six and a half years in prison for selling cocaine. Investigators arrested Rakeem Whatley at a home in October 2023 during a search warrant. Police found a large quantity of cocaine, scales, thousands of dollars, and an illegal 9 mm handgun. Whatley will also serve three years of post-release supervision.
