Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
The Jamal family is offering a $20,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the individual who set their new home ablaze on Halloween night. Security cameras captured a masked man, wielding an axe and holding what appears to be a can of gasoline, forcing entry into their residence on Drago Way in Greenburgh. Within moments, the house was engulfed in flames, resulting in damages estimated at over $100,000. Anyone with knowledge pertaining to the incident is urged to contact the Greenburgh Police Department.
At least one person is recovering following a two-car collision in Somers. The volunteer fire department reported the incident occurred a little after 2 p.m. on Monday at the intersection of Route 100 and Moseman Avenue. One individual was transported to a local hospital, although details regarding the cause of the crash are pending further investigation.
Mount Vernon police are seeking assistance in locating missing 15-year-old Saniya Valdez, who has not been seen since Oct. 27. Valdez is approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs around 150 pounds. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to contact police at (914) 665-2510.
