A Westchester County man is headed to prison for 17 years for various crimes authorities say happened in Rockland County.
Wayne Hicks, of Hawthorne, was sentenced in federal court in White Plains on Thursday. Prosecutors say 32-year-old Hicks is a drug dealer and directed multiple violent attacks as retribution for drug robberies.
One happened in February 2021 when a drug dealer who worked for Hicks was robbed.
Prosecutors say Hicks contacted his brother, who lured a person he believed took part in the robbery, to a New City residence.
That person was beaten and slashed.
Several other people who carried out the attack were also convicted and sentenced.
