Hastings-on-Hudson police say multiple fights last weekend resulted in a 17-year-old from Ardsley being arrested for assault and a police officer injured.
Police say it happened near the Hillside Woods last weekend. They say there was a gathering of about 300 youths from Hastings and surrounding villages.
Police say the crowd dispersed with the help of other police departments but once the crowd reached Lefurgy and Edgewood Avenues, they became "unruly and disorderly," and several fights happened in the streets.
Police say some of the youths fought with the police officers.
Some neighbors say although they didn’t see or hear anything, they are concerned.
"Pretty shocking that it would happen here in Hastings, a gathering of that many kids, 300, that’s a lot," says Mario Toglia, a Hastings-on-Hudson resident.
Hastings-on-Hudson police will be patrolling the area for safety.
