A home invasion in Soundview Wednesday ended with three people shot and police hunting for the suspect, who is described as armed and dangerous.
Investigators say the masked gunman knocked on the door of 1161 Elder Ave. and pushed his way into the home where he demanded money and jewelry. According to police, the robber shot two men and a woman in the leg and ran off after the victims said they did not have any valuables. A neighbor identifies two of the victims as Karen Guzman and her brother Andres. Police believe the suspect may have been recently released from prison because he left behind a Department of Correction receipt.
Neighbor Samantha Ayala suggests the suspect may have gained easy entry into the home because the door was frequently unlocked. The victims are recovering from non-life threatening injuries. Residents say the incident marks the third area robbery.
