Gunfire broke the silence of the overnight hours in West Harrison.
Police say a man wielding a handgun robbed a Harrison resident outside his home on Gainsborg Avenue around midnight.
Cops say the victim was returning home from his job in the Bronx and was confronted in the street near his house. They say the victim was targeted and that the suspect got away with stolen property but they are not giving details.
Harrison Police Chief Anthony Marraccini says that the suspect fired a shot from what they believe to be a hand gun as he ran off on foot. "We believe that there was a round discharged although that was not a live shot we believe it was a blank cartridge that was fired," says Marraccini.
The victim was not injured in the robbery.
