It took the jury less than seven hours Wednesday to find a man guilty in the brutal murder of a Yonkers man in Middletown.
James Blagmon is facing 25 years to life in prison for killing his former roommate, Franklyn Fitts. Prosecutors say Blagmon beat Fitts in a Middletown apartment in September of 2006. Blagmon then stuffed Fitts? body into the trunk of his own car and left it on First Street in Newburgh. Police say Fitts? decomposing body was found days later. Prosecutors believe the killing was over drug money.
Orange County Assistant District Attorney David Byrne says the most damning evidence was Blagmon?s bloody sneakers and his own DNA. Byrne says DNA was found on the tape used to bind Fitts? hands.
Blagmon?s attorney says his client will appeal the verdict.
