Well, are you looking for a fun yet educational activity for the whole family? And you will know they will enjoy this one. We have just a place in this week's road trip, close to home. I'm showing off everything the Monmouth Museum has to offer. There's so much art to see. There's so much history to learn here at the Monmouth Museum and it's family friendly, which is why I brought my boys, Zan and Roman. Isn't this great? This is amazing. Yeah, this is awesome. It's a really fun place here. It's 15,000 square feet of space. The museum is really a great destination for families and for individuals. So we really have something for everyone. The wondering is a really great place mostly for kids that are six and under. It's a great place to just kind of let your Children explore and learn on their own. There's different imaginative play areas that they can go to and all along the way, they're learning about under the sea. It's a great destination to come to. If you want to really kind of keep that school, you're going in a fun way. All of this is made out of LEGOS. If you go into the Becker Wing, you might go through and see our astronaut section. We have a paleo lab which gives Children a chance to find shark teeth in our little sandbox and then look at them under a high powered microscope. And then when we head upstairs, we also then have air and space. So we have an innovation lab with a giant light bright, but we're hoping that we're inspiring Children and sparking their curiosity, making little scientists and engineers and maybe astronauts. This is our cardboard show that we have up now. And it's really exciting when you see pieces come together, they had had an exhibit in Asbury Park at the parlor gallery and it's kind of got that local feel where you are able to find and identify really cool local artists. In this case, there are three artists that put their collective brain together and created this, which is amazing. It makes them think of things a little bit differently. So when you have all your Amazon boxes piled up at home, you might kind of take a double take before you just throw it in the recycle bin. What are the ideas? What are the things that you can make out of it? So what might be somebody's trash could turn into a piece of art? So how does this place measure up? Well, I think the better question is how do I measure up to this thing? The museum is a great place for everyone to come. I think that this is one of the best kept secrets in Mammoth County. No matter how far close you are. There's something for everyone here. So you can really spend the whole day here. Once you have your admission for the day, you could always leave, go have a nice lunch in a, it's a nice opportunity for little ones that are one and then all the way through 80. You know, there's definitely gonna be something here for everybody. So get ready to unleash your imagination. Here at the Monmouth Museum. Tickets are only $12 per person. mm So we're definitely in an ideal location right on the boardwalk. We're actually lucky that we get to be right on the beach. Mhm. We opened in the summer of 91. So we are coming up on our 31st anniversary, there's a lot of animals. One of my favorite animals here was the penguins, the seals because I like watching them do some tricks. Our mission statement is actually to inspire a sea of change. Our main purpose is yes to care for these animals and advocate for them. But we also really want to promote education and conservation because a lot of times people coming to aquarium, they would probably never get to see these animals before um in their lifetime. So the, to have the opportunity for people to get to see them and then be able to tell people about them, educate them and form them of reasons they're endangered and what they can do to actually conserve their populations in the wild. I love stingrays. If you could say one animal from extinction, what would it be? And I immediately cownose stingray. Why? Just because I love them, I can interact with the penguins too. I like that penguins tend to be a fan favorite. Some of them can like survive in the harsh environment and uh Antarctica and while others can just be africa like the ones here, the largest exhibit that we have holds 58,000 gallons of water. Four different species of sharks. Sand, tiger shark. We have nurse sharks as well as black tip reef sharks and leopard sharks, telling facts about the animals and meeting the animals personally. I feel like I think it's really cool. This is our mangrove touch pool. So we have a variety of different animals that you can touch and feel you can touch it. You really get to personalize the experience almost. We also have parrots and owls, monkeys, seals, lucy is actually our first resident animal that we had here at Jenkinson's aquarium. I definitely think it's a really great treasure to find. Like when you do stumble upon us and you come inside and see just how many animals and what we have to offer. I've been to Jenkinson's a bunch of times, but I've never been to the aquarium. I might have to check that out now check Jenkinson's aquarium before leaving for your road trip because they're ours do very day by day. It's part of Long Island. That's paradise this time of year. But many people don't even know about it. Many people have never even been for this week's road trip. Close to home, we go back to Fire Island to k every community in Fire Island has their own personality here in Kismet, it's a fun, family friendly vibe. We continue our tour of Fire Island in this road trip. Close to home. K is the westernmost town here on Fire Island. It's about a mile and a half from Robert Moses Field Five. So you can actually walk or bike here if you don't want to take a boat or the ferry. It's just a great day out. K is a wonderful place. The dock is really the central area here. It's got an old school feel. There's a market here to grab some groceries or just a cup of coffee. There's a pizza place in two main restaurants, but the Kismet Inn has been a staple here since 1925. Another great spot is the dive described as a modern beach bar with a socal vibe. Obviously influence on seafood. We are on an island. People want seafood, of course, seasonal, summery fresh vibes, you know, with the cocktails to match. One of my favorite attractions here at Kismet is the Fire Island Bowel. Yes, Boel. Because if you want, you can drive your boat right up to your room. There's 11 different suites, all with the best views of the Fire Island lighthouse and the Great South Bay. You have a beautiful bay front property here that you can go swimming in. You walk down less than three minutes and you're in the ocean. Um, and there's no cars here. Uh, everybody is riding bicycles and a very relaxed, comfortable getaway that you feel like you're 1000 miles away. When you're right here on Fire Island. If you like tennis, there's public courts right next to a playground so you can play while the kids play. And of course, the jewel of every Fire Island community, the beach, which is dog friendly. Make sure you have a leash though. It's a great place. You got to check it out if you haven't.

50 years after the Federal Endangered Species Act became law. The work of iconic artist Andy Warhol is still inspiring the public to embrace the cause. News 12 Connecticut photojournalist, Laurie Goli shows us how in this week's road trip close to home, the Mau Museum is located right on the historic green in downtown Waterbury. We have such a diverse roster of exhibitions this summer at the man. We are so thrilled that we have Andy Warhol's endangered species. So Andy Warhol was commissioned in 1983 to do a series of 10 works of animals that were on the endangered species list celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Endangered Species Act. These are original silk screens and in addition to the silk screens, there are also these panels and so a person who has low vision or no vision can either be described or can with their low vision touch this panel and, and experience what you and I with our better vision can actually just see in the silk screen. Every single person in the world knows who Andy Warhol was. He's elevated these animals to the role of celebrities like Marilyn Monroe and Elvis through the way that he's depicted them in these silk screens. This is Roberto Clemente life and legacy. You can see things like a cereal box, a Wheaties box with Roberto Clemente's face on it. Bobble heads, baseball hats, archival material. There's a whole range of things. We have a really large population of Puerto Ricans in Waterbury and Roberto Clemente is a real culture hero for Puerto Ricans. We really do look to reflect our community and to create a space where our community members feel seen. This is Thomas mcknight Apollo's mirror recent works and these works are all based on mythology in his images. There's these really great animals that sort of appear that are also sort of mythological. It's fun because it gives families an opportunity to sort of chat about what it is that they're seeing in the art world, talking about a painting with a child, asking them what they see and how they see it. And what happens is a really great way to build a lover of art and museums and somebody who's going to continue to have that cultural experience as a part of their life. This exhibit is called Ancestral Heirloom and we're so lucky to have it here. This is her first ever museum exhibition and she's based in Nigeria. She is 100% self taught, which is incredible when you look at the photo realistic quality of these works. It really does look like these people are jumping off the canvas. So we're trying to make this a place where people feel welcome, where people feel like they've been identified and things that they can reflect from their own cultures are being represented right alongside the other historical artifacts that we have in the museum. We have a little bit of something for everyone. We're a dual mission institution. So we tell the history of Waterbury in Connecticut. And also we focus on art, fine art and we have a new rooftop terrace where people can come and have lunch in our cafe and we have changing exhibitions. So there's always something new to see here.
