A transit-advocacy group says a stretch of Webster Avenue is a danger to pedestrians and cyclists and is calling on the state to take action.
Transportation Alternatives says four fatalities and 280 injuries have been recorded during a 10-year period as a result of speeding vehicles. The group says 32 percent of drivers on Webster Avenue speeded past a nearby school traveling as fast as 66 miles per hour.
The group is urging the state to install speed-enforcement cameras and redesign streets in the area. It is also asking that the NYPD delve into the speeding epidemic, find underlying causes and help reduce them.
