The group behind a secret write-in campaign to re-elect Mount Vernon Mayor Ernie Davis has revealed itself.
The activists call themselves the United Citizens for Mount Vernon. Denise Branch and her son, George Latt, founded the group after the primary in September because they believe Davis deserves another term in office.
The group is urging Davis' supporters to write his name on the ballot.
The campaign is considered a long shot. Officials at the county Board of Elections say there has never been a successful write-in campaign in a general election in Westchester.
