The Town of Greenburgh canceled its recycling pickups this week, but evidently, not everyone got the word.
Town officials say the recycling collections were scrapped so that sanitation crews could focus on removing debris left over from a freak snowstorm that happened back in October, as well as on cleaning up leaves.
Many residents, however, say they were unaware of the cancellation and put out their recyclables as usual.
The cancellation notice was posted on the town's website, but county officials would not let Greenburgh use an emergency robo-call system to make sure the message got out.
Some town residents have complained that they now have to bring their recycling back in, or leave it on the curb until next Wednesday.
When pickups resume next week, residents are being asked to put out co-mingled items. Paper recycling will resume the following Wednesday.
