A former Hudson Valley resident is paying homage to the nation’s top infectious disease expert - using America’s favorite pastime.
Graphic artist David Stokes created a series of 10 baseball cards honoring Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert.
The former Poughkeepsie resident say he has been inspired by Fauci’s leadership during the coronavirus pandemic.
Stokes, who created them in his current home in Chicago, says he’s overwhelmed by the response to the cards.
“I already sold out the first series of 100 that I had printed. I’ve just ordered another set. It seems to be moving pretty well. I’m really touched by the love of Dr. Fauci, and the cards," he says.
Fauci is also a baseball fan - he recently threw out the first pitch at the Washington Nationals' home opener.
Stokes says he hopes the cards will become collectible items in the future.
The series of Fauci baseball cards is selling for $16.50 on Etsy.
