A signature from Gov. Kathy Hochul could make diapers cheaper for New York children.
There's a push from local lawmakers for the governor to sign legislation to exempt local sale taxes from diapers into law.
It was already approved unanimously by the state Senate.
Local advocates and state lawmakers gathered in Scarsdale to discuss the importance of this bill.
“These items have to be purchased. We're not talking about a different tie or a different pocket square or a different shirt, or luxury items, these are necessities," said state Sen. Jamaal Bailey.
News 12 reached out to the governor’s office who says she is reviewing the bill.
