Gov. Hochul's
overall job performance ratings dip, Siena poll says
A new poll
from Siena College shows that Gov. Kathy Hochul overall job performance ratings
has dropped.
The poll
revealed that at least 36% of voters favor Hochul’s overall
job performance, while 57% disagree.
"This country
is going the opposite direction," says Toni Boss, of
Yonkers.
According to the poll, the two issues at the forefront of people's minds heading into the June
primary elections are crime and the economy.
While a majority of voters support recent actions by the governor and Legislature to amend the 2019 bail law, 38% say the bail reform will have no effect on crime rate, while 16% believe it will increase crime.
"Everything
is a slap on the wrist today, you know, and they're not putting them in jail,” says
Allen Lecrann, of Yonkers.
Steven Greenberg,
a pollster from Siena College, says the numbers are a warning sign for
politicians.
"For half of
the voters, crime or an economic issue are their top issue. Those are two
issues that Hochul scores particularly badly on,” says Greenberg
