Gov. Kathy Hochul pledged her support Monday afternoon to Long Island’s Muslim community in a visit to the Islamic Center of Melville.

The high-profile visit follows a racially charged outburst last week, which left many Mosque members frightened.

As News 12 has reported, 46-year-old Jordan Endler was charged with trespassing and harassment, after he was allegedly seen on camera berating worshipers at the mosque.

Endler makes numerous references to the Israel-Hamas war, and calls mosque members “racist.”

Hochul met with religious leaders at the Islamic Center and promised protection from state police.

The governor pointed to a $25 million grant program, aimed at helping religious institutions build up their security. Leaders at the mosque say the plan to apply for the funding.
