Gov. Kathy Hochul on Tuesday announced $3 million will be distributed to colleges and universities toward fighting the rise in online threats as the Israel-Hamas war continues.
Hochul says there's been a 400% increase in threats across the state since the start of the war.
“I will not allow our state to be defiled by the angry few that peddle hate and incite violence,” she said.
Hochul added the money will provide threat assessment training to college campuses across the state. The funds will also be used to develop a media literacy toolkit to help students learn how to spot misinformation online.
