Gov. Andrew Cuomo will be joined by other high-ranking state lawmakers on a trip to Israel Tuesday.
Cuomo will be joined by Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver (D) and Senate Majority co-leaders Dean Skelos (R) and Jeff Klein (R). Shoe designer Kenneth Cole, Cuomo's brother-in-law, will also be a part of the delegation.
The delegation will spend two days in the region to meet with government officials and other people impacted by the ongoing violence, including New Yorkers who live in Israel. Janice Lubin Kirschner, the senior director of the Jewish Council of Yonkers, says the trip is an important sign of solidarity, as New York is home to the largest population of Jewish people outside of Israel.
Cuomo's office says the trip is not being paid for by taxpayer money.
