Gov. Cuomo officially files for retirement with Comptroller's Office

467ds agoGov. Andrew Cuomo officially filed for retirement with the state Comptroller's Office on Tuesday as he prepares to leave office next week.
The document is dated Sept. 1 because state law requires a retirement application to be on file for at least 14 days but no more than 90 days before it can occur.
This date does not impact his resignation on Aug. 24.
Cuomo is expected to receive a pension of around $50,000 a year, according to the Empire Center, an Albany-based think tank.
He would have still been eligible for a pension even if he was impeached and convicted.
