New restrictions will soon be implemented to stop the spread of the coronavirus, including how late you can grab a drink and go to the gym.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo says starting Friday, private gatherings will be limited to 10 people, indoor and outdoor.
Gyms, bars and restaurants will have a 10 p.m. curfew.
Cuomo says through contact tracing, they are seeing cases stem from those places, which is why surrounding states have already taken these measures.
New Jersey for example is enforcing the 10 p.m. curfew for bars and restaurants starting Thursday.
For a long time, New York state had an average positivity rate of nearly 1%. According to the state Health Department, the seven-day average has climbed to 2.2%.
Here's a breakdown of the seven-day averages in counties across the Mid-Hudson region: Rockland and Putnam counties, are at approximately 3.3%, Westchester is at 3%, Orange County is at 2.9%, Dutchess County is at 1.7% and Ulster County is at 1.3%.
The governor says balancing health and the economy would be like a seesaw – sometimes one may have to give for the other.
