A solemn remembrance was held Sunday for fallen servicemen in Valhalla.
The Gold Star Mothers Ceremony was held at the Memorial Tree Walkway at the Kensico Dam Plaza.
Young cadets escorted family members to their soldiers' stars to take a moment and reflect on their lives.
One mother spoke about what she would say to her son. "It just brings back a lot of memories you know? And I'm so happy people still recognize what he has gone through for this country. I love you and I'm proud of you," says Carmen Palmer, mother of Cpl. Bernard Gooden.
The walkway was created to honor the heroes who died while serving in military campaigns that followed the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
