New legislation proposed by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) would help alleviate a major problem in Bronx schools - asthma in children.
The bill would provide millions to arm schools with preventative and emergency treatment for students suffering from asthma attacks, train asthma educators and invest more in research.
"Educating people to become asthma educators that will work with these inner-city families would actually have an impact on the high rates we see here in the Bronx," says Dr. Denise Serebristy, director of the Asthma and Allergy Center.
