A nesting pair of Canada geese outside a Yonkers restaurant has welcomed new arrivals after several eggs hatched this week.
The geese have been nesting on a grassy area of the parking lot along Central Park Avenue.
Restaurant staff said some of the eggs have now hatched, revealing chicks that are being kept safe on site.
Employees at the IHOP are helping look after the growing goose family.
Staff said the adult geese return to the same spot each spring to nest.
A wildlife rescue group is also assisting to help protect the birds.
"Loraine, myself, and a couple volunteers, we walked all the way here. We carried the babies in a little carrier. The parents follow us and then we release them here where there's plenty of space, water, and other geese," says IHOP owner Elena Ozerovsky-Cochrane.
One of the goslings is being brought back to the rehab center for further evaluation. If all goes well, it should be reunited with her family tomorrow.
