Fed-up drivers from the Bronx and beyond converged on a Nepperhan Avenue Shell station Monday for free gas, courtesy of La Que Buena 92.7 FM.
The Mexican group Conjunto Atardecer pumped $4,000 worth of gas for devoted station listeners. Drivers who had the station's bumper sticker on their cars got the gas, while others were turned away.
The giveaway was enthusiastically welcomed by drivers as the average national price for unleaded regular gas hit $4. In Westchester, the average is $4.25 a gallon.
The radio station gave away the gas in less than three hours.
