Nearly seven weeks after a Garrison tow truck operator was found murdered in front of his garage, members of the community are pitching in to help support the victim?s family.
John Marcinak, 49, was found shot to death Jan. 1 on Route 9. The Putnam County Sheriff's Department has been investigating the murder, but so far no arrests have been made.
Shortly after the murder, a local firehouse where Marcinak had been an active member began hosting fundraising events and set up an educational fund for Marcinak?s three young children.
?We support our members' families, and we're always around for each other,? says Don Lefari, president of the Garrison firehouse.
Anyone with information about the murder is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-313-TIPS. A reward of $10,000 will be offered for information that will lead to an arrest in the case.
