Funeral arrangements are set for a rookie NYPD officer following a tragic accident in the Bronx over the weekend.
Michael Williams, 25, was sitting in the back of a police van when the driver hit a barrier on the Bruckner Expressway in the Bronx. Williams was thrown out of the vehicle and died from his injuries. Eight other officers suffered injuries.
Williams grew up in Dutchess County, where his father is a longtime police officer in Carmel.
Wake services are being held on Wednesday in Hopewell Junction. His funeral service will take place on Thursday.
