Funeral held for teen killed in Yonkers theater stabbing
Family and friends gathered Saturday to say goodbye to a teen who was stabbed to death at a Ridge Hill theater.
Daij Thomas, 19, died April 15 after being stabbed while working at the Showcase Cinema De Lux theater. He was a father to a 2-year-old son.
Members of his family say they still can't believe what happened.
"There's no preparing for that, you know," says Tashera Tucker-Brown, the victim's sister. "You just have to do your best to stick together and pray. Definitely pray."
Officials say 16-year-old Michael Pettiford, of Yonkers, has been charged in Thomas' death. They say the two knew each other before the altercation.
Thomas was laid to rest at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla.
