Family and friends said their final goodbyes to a Haverstraw man killed in a hit-and-run crash last Tuesday.
The funeral for Juan Germosen was held at St. Peters Church in Haverstraw this morning.
The 75-year-old was hit and killed by a driver last week while walking along Route 9W.
A 43-year-old man from Queens was arrested and charged in the fatal hit-and-run. "I can't believe how it actually happened. It’s just him not stopping to help him is what is hurting us the most, because he probably would have been alive. We want justice to be served. We want him to pay for what he did," says niece Melinda Germosen.
The victim’s family tells News 12 they're planning on advocating for more sidewalks on Route 9W to save future pedestrians from walking in the dangerous roadway.
